Prim goes back in time

Did you know that there are dinosaurs in Orange County?  Well, there are.  And I ain't talking about the ones stuck in tar.  A couple of weeks ago, Prim came face to face with one of these dinosaurs.  Not surprisingly, she merely smiled at the T-Rex's ferociousness.

We all know that elves travel by magic, but who knew that they could travel back to a different era?!

But wait, were there boats and houses in the land before time?

If she didn't go back in time, then Prim must have been at Balboa Island.  Balboa Island, if you didn't know, is a community in Newport Beach where walking paths give you breathtaking harbor views on one side and a glimpse of Orange County opulence on the other.  Folks, the homes are amazing.  And occasionally these gorgeous homes feature random dinosaurs in their front yards.  This explains the above photos.

I was at Balboa Island, too, of course.  And so were Kendra and Hilary.  Hi ladies!

Talk about going back in time, Kendra and Hilary and I were all college roommates.  They're the two funnest friends a girl could ask for.  If Prim had been around during our college days, she would have enjoyed many a Slurpee run to 7-11 at 2:00am and screamed with us as we watched Lost.  On second thought, I don't think Prim could have handled such wild behavior.

Sam walked around Balboa Island with us, too.  I'm not quite sure what to make of the look he's giving Prim.  I'll bet that, in one way or another, he's thinking about food.

If you've never been to Balboa Island, I highly recommend it.  You can ooh and ahhh over the exquisite houses, sit and enjoy the amazing harbor views, or have your picture taken with a T-Rex.  No time travel necessary.

A belated St. Patrick's Day

It seems that no one in Prim's household remembered that it was St. Patrick's day.  And Prim, not wanting to miss out on this, her very first St. Patrick's day away from the North Pole, insisted on a celebration.

Maybe it's the fact that St. Patrick's day was two days ago, but no one was in the mood to celebrate.  Not even Sam, who is generally the life of any party (that is, any party involving food).

So, Prim's St. Patrick's party went like this:

She tried to get Sam in the mood with some festive party attire.

When he unceremoniously got up and slunk to the other end of the couch, Prim followed.

She waited patiently...

...and Sam fell asleep on Preston's favorite blankie.

Geez, Prim.  I don't know what's worse - the fact that you didn't get to celebrate St. Paddy's day, or the fact that Preston still has a favorite blankie.

Prim, International Covergirl

It might be her pixie haircut, her high cheekbones, or her impeccable sense of style, but Prim is often told that she bears a striking resemblence to Audrey Hepburn.  Prim might as well be having breakfast at Tiffany's tomorrow morning and dinner with Professor Higgins tomorrow night.

I brought home a few books from the library so that Prim could see what everyone was talking about.  She's been spouting Audrey Hepburn quotes ever since.

"There are certain shades of limelight that can wreck a girl's complexion."

"I never think of myself as an icon. What is in other people's minds is not in my mind. I just do my thing."

"I never thought I'd land in pictures with a face like mine."

"It is too much to hope that I shall keep up my success.  I don't ask for that.  All I shall do is my best - and hope."

She may not be Givenchy's new poster girl, but you really can't deny that Prim has that classic vintage look...

Close encounters of the canine kind

Last week, the whole fam-damly got together for dinner at my parents'.  I figured it was as good a time as any for Prim to meet the canine members of the clan.  But the thing is, dogs can't quite tell the difference between a magical Elf on the Shelf and well, a dog toy.  (To put your minds at ease, yes, Prim did come home in one piece.)
